Jill Fennema, owner of the Edgerton Enterprise, spoke to the young professionals about the importance of small town newspapers. The Edgerton Enterprise began in 1883 with Jill buying the business in 2006. Jill never imagined using her journalism degree as an owner of a newspaper. She believes the mission of the paper is to inform and educate people as well as highlight school and community events. In 2014, Jill expanded her business portfolio by purchasing " On the Farm" a free agriculture publication. Jill spoke about creating stories, working with people, checking resources, how AI can be used as a tool in writing, and staying organized. We also toured Main Street Publishers with Ron. Ron told the young professionals his journey back to his hometown, get negative people out of your life, and to find what you really like and do that. Thank you for the great morning for the SWMN CEO young professionals.
