* Due to the facilitator being laid up this post is a young professionals perspective of our visit.

On Tuesday, Mike Fey from Fey Industries presented to the class. Due to the size of the business, this is a two day visit in which we will go back tomorrow for a tour of the building. Mr. Fey’s presentation started off with some of the history from the company which all started from a small print shop in Edgerton. Following this, he then got into more of the details of what Fey Industries does. I thought it was very fascinating how many different products that they are able to produce and the different risks/ prices they have to deal with. Another thing that stood out was how they compete with sources like Amazon or the Chinese businesses. We finished up the visit with two things. A short presentation from a few of the team members informed us on the variety of job options at Fey Industries as well as showed how diverse the opportunities are. Lastly we had a short tour of the office spaces and other benefits the space offers. I definitely enjoyed the morning and am eager to learn more on Wednesday!
Back at Fey Industries on Wednesday, we completed the very interesting tour of the business. There was a lot to see and many new things to learn. We saw the production lines of how different products are made and the machines used to make them. I thought it was very cool how intricate everything was and how much technology goes into everything. The amount of work it would take to program and build each machine is very impressive work. Above all, I was very impressed with how clean and organized the building was. The production floor had very clear walkways and there wasn’t any scrap vinyl or plastic laying around. I definitely enjoyed the morning and it was a pleasure to be able to meet and talk to Mr. Fey.
