We had a great business visit at McClure Plumbing and Heating in Luverne this morning. Jerry Buss bought the business from Frank and Les McClure in 1971. Troy Buss bought it from his dad in 2009. Now Troy's son, Quinn, a SWMN CEO alumni, works for the family business. Troy spoke about growing the business from 3 employees to 15. Troy encouraged the young professionals to talk to successful people and said the best advice he received from business owners is to manage your people and allow them to do the work as well as you can't make a good employee out of a bad one. Troy shared financial knowledge with the group, strategies to find a good employee, and having good communication skills. Quinn shared about his experience working in a large city, marketing your business using social media, having the correct equipment for the job, and he gave the young professionals a tour!
