We had a fantastic morning at Christensen Broadcasting with Angie Houselog, Mya Christensen, and Myron Ray!
Angie shared her career journey with the SWMN CEO students. Although she graduated from college with a business degree, she discovered that her true passion was communications. After spending several years in insurance and customer service, Angie decided to pursue that passion and begin a new chapter with Christensen Broadcasting. Today, she enjoys expressing her creativity as a DJ while also building client relationships and selling advertising.
During the visit, Angie emphasized the importance of building relationships, understanding your clients, actively listening, and asking thoughtful questions. These skills are essential for success in both sales and communications.
Christensen Broadcasting is a growing, third-generation family business with radio stations in Madison, SD; Madison, MN; and Luverne, MN. The company has also expanded its sports coverage through its Section 3 sports contract with the MSHSL. Its live-streaming coverage includes 10 schools and reached more than 1.3 million views during the 2025–2026 school year!
Angie also led the young professionals in a hands-on activity, challenging them to write an advertising script using the four key elements of a marketing plan: attention, statement, documentation, and motivation. This activity gave students an opportunity to apply marketing concepts and experience the creativity and strategy involved in developing effective advertising.
A big thank-you to Christensen Broadcasting for hosting us, sharing valuable industry insights, and serving as a financial sponsor of the SWMN CEO program. We appreciate your continued support of our young entrepreneurs!
